Packing is Happening

December 7th

Here are some happy things from today:

  • Morning sky.

  • Last month I made a commitment to write a little every day.  Keziah had given me a book, You are a Muffin, which is basically a story prompt that is partially led by the roll of the dice.  I ended up writing over 9000 words to a story that was based around a Muffin.  Go figure… It has a beginning, middle, and end.  It is a bit disjointed, especially when I ended up switching from first person to third person.  Because we are moving, I was going to leave it alone until that was done.  It keeps creeping into my mind.  The other day I realized that I could split it and have it go back and forth between at least two of the characters' first person views.  This morning I wrote down some notes on the characters to give them more personality and a bit of a background.  I'm happy that I haven't just let the story drop yet.
  • Before packing up boxes I tried to use the Tangle Quandary to draw a tree.  I like how it came out, but the Quandary design mostly turned into a bunch of seed shapes.

  • Many boxes were completed, taped up, and put into the storage container.  I think seven or eight.  A couple of those were basically ready to go and just needed tape.  Emptying closets, shelves, and drawers has not made my room feel empty yet.  I'm happy progress was made.  I definitely ran out of energy sooner than I expected.

Cat and Bird

December 6th

Here are some happy things from this cold Saturday:

  • When I went next door for breakfast this morning Zed complimented my hair.  I had just washed it, combed it, and then shook it out.  When he complimented it, I was surprised so I looked at myself on the phone.  In my opinion, it looked funny.  Looking at the picture now, it isn't too bad.

  • Yesterday, I got very little sleep.  I didn't sleep as long as I would have liked this morning.  Instead, I took frequent rests between packing and sorting.  I have a ways to go, but progress was made, yay!

  • Sunset behind the Christmas trees being sold:
  • Our cat, Nanni, watching the bird, Margo.  Margo watching Nanni.  Margo will be one of the pets joining the family when we move.  We will be moving in together with another family into a larger home.

  • Moon!
It isn't really blue.

Another Tree

 December 5th

It is the holiday season so I am scheduled for more hours every week.  This week was 40 instead of 30 hours.  The next two weeks I'll be scheduled for 50 hours.  My blogs may become shorter because of this.  Here are my happy things from today:

  • At the end of work today they brought in food from the Olive Garden.  It was a good meal and a nice way for me to end my work week.
  • At home I decided that it is December so I may as well watch some holiday romance type movies.  I thought I would watch one then go to bed.  I ended up watching two.  The second one had me crying during most of it.  Maybe next time I'll try for a holiday comedy!
  • Keziah brought home a sweet dessert for Gideon and I.  She is so thoughtful.
  • Again I pulled out my markers and colored pencils and played around with a Tangle.  This time it was Shattuck.  It seemed to work nicely into a holiday tree.

Happy Thursday!

 December 4th

Thursday happy things:

  • From inside the car, I took more pictures of the trees in the parking lot at work.  The lights are always moving.

  • Work went well.  Mostly I was in a good mood.  There was a time when I had a song in my head that made me want to cry, but they put music on and that helped push the other song away.  I was outside for over an hour helping to push carts around.  Once I had moved enough to no longer be cold, that was fun.  It is why I have a little over 25,000 steps today.
  • At home I again played with some Tangles.  I tried using colored pencils instead of markers.  The outline is in marker, the color with the pencils.  The first is the Cochombros and the other is Rambles.

Short

 December 3rd

Some happy Wednesday things:

  • It was still lightly snowing when I went to work.  Thanks to Corvidae's car (again) I had no problem getting work while taking it slow.  I was only a few minutes late.  I made up for it by working an extra hour.
  • At home I rested and played with the Butria Tangle again.  This time, instead of a tree, it looks more like a gown maybe?   I need to work on my angles.

  • Sunset.

Snow!

 December 2nd

Here are some happy things from today:

  • When I left for work in the middle of the night the sky had the thin cloud cover of a weather front moving in.  Only the shine of Jupiter and the moon could penetrate the clouds.
Jupiter

Not quite a full moon.

Frosty windshield.

  • Where I work is going all out for the holidays this year.  There are Christmas trees built of lights outside (five or six of them) and three or four Christmas trees inside the building.  They are all lovely.  I parked next to one of the trees this morning, so I got a picture.

  • Because of the snow, I left about a half hour early.  We finished all but resetting for tonight before I left.  The drive home wasn't too bad, but that was partly because I was driving Corvidae's Rav4.  My car would not have fared so well.
  • There are no words for how thankful I am that a friend got us a snow blower, Bel figured out how to use it then taught Zed and I, and that Zed went out and used the snow blower to clear the driveway.  The storm isn't over yet, but hopefully I'll be able to get out without much of a problem.  Bel and Corvidae decided to stay snowed-in where they are cat-sitting rather than driving back and forth.  So Zed used the snow blower and I did a little bit of shoveling.  I'm so very thankful.

  • No challenges for me this month, but I did sit down and play with the Butria Tangle.  I've expanded it and flipped it upside-down to make a tree.  I'll need to practice this one more.

Hello December

 December 1st

We have reached the first of December.   Here are my happy things from today:

  • Soon after sunrise these glorious clouds were bright in the eastern-ish sky.

  • This morning I helped Keziah and Bel pack some things up from the shed.  I got a short workout helping them lift some heavy tools.  Bel also got the snow blower running.  We are supposed to get around 5-10 inches tomorrow.
  • The afternoon was full of errands.  It would have been more fun to walk with friends, but I walked alone to get my steps in between errands.
Moon.

Horseshoe Pond.

Sunset at Horseshoe Pond.

  • I feel the need to note that I only borrowed this book from Hoopla because of the author's name.  IYKYK.
