Working Title

December 12th

Here are happy things from today:

  • At work I helped process my own package.  It was weird seeing it go by.  There is no way to properly collect my delivery from work, it has to go through all the steps.  The box made it home, so I guess I did my job right.  🤣
  • One more work day left this week!  It is going to be a part day so I can go to a SCA event tomorrow as well.
  • After work and lunch I was able to squeeze in a little bit of time at the new house.  Some planning was done and I got my new bedroom measured.  The window faces more or less to the west. I got an almost sunset picture before I headed home.  I may not end up in that room for very long, so I'm not sure about making color changes or anything yet.

I'm not sure why I took this picture.   Maybe to see the way the closet fits into that corner?  It does show the carpet and wall colors okay though.  I don't think I would have chosen those colors, but they aren't horrible.

New House!

December 11th

Here are my happy Thursday things:

  • Work started out pretty frustrating, but it ended pretty well.  It was very busy in Problem Solve.  The night went by quickly with all there was to do.  It amazes me sometimes how frustrating something seems in the moment, and how insignificant it seems later.
  • After work I messaged the family that I was on the way home.  That is when I learned that Zed and Keziah finally had the new house.  I went to the current home first, changed my shoes, and grabbed some things that Keziah had forgotten before I headed to the new house.  The house is only partly empty, they took what they wanted and left the rest.  We expected that.  Everything looked different.  Rooms that seemed small, now seem larger and vice versa. I'm planning to bring a tape measure tomorrow.  I'm not going to be able to spend any real time there until Sunday.  I'm so happy that the waiting for it is over.
Going into the driveway.

Back of the house.

The window over the sink in the kitchen.

  • The Merrimack River with some ice.

Waiting is the Hardest Part

December 10th

Some happy things from today:

  • It is only day two of five for work and I have not been sleeping well.  However, I made it through the work day and stayed an hour later.  I also saw some great teamwork today.
  • As I prepare to sleep again, everything for the house Zed and Keziah are buying is still in limbo.  We thought it was going to be good, and drove over and around the new town, but it didn't happen.  Back at what is still home, I doodled some more.  It helped me relax some.  There might have been some comfort food shaped like ice cream, too.  😋

  • Snow.

Doodle

 December 9th

Stuff happened and the completion of the purchase of the house by Keziah and Zed was not completed by the time I am writing this at 7 PM.  My understanding is that papers are signed, but the check is in the mail.  It should have arrived, but hasn't.   Any how, here are some happy Tuesday things:

  • Work went well.   There is a new member of the safety team above me.  I met them today and they seem really nice and helpful.
  • When work was over, the company had pizza delivered for us.  Food after work is generally a good thing.  I'm always so hungry after work.
  • This afternoon I either tried to sleep or talked with Corvidae while trying to get warm in the house.  Nanni came and wanted attention.  This was really nice.  I tried to get a picture, but she kept moving.

  • Sleeping is what I should have been trying to do when I picked up a pen instead.  I started a little bit of sort-of Tangles and a name mandala but didn't finish any of them.

Tracks

 December 8th

Happy Monday things:

  • One of the nice things about snow is seeing footprints (picture follows).  After talking with Bel and Corvidae to help me identify them, it was probably a cat.  Yesterday I packed my book on wildlife tracking.  Oh, well.

  • I've been trying to make a Ranger Bead Pace Counter for a friend.  The knot (double snake knot or Celtic button knot) proved harder for me to get the hang of than I hoped.  At this point I've done a couple and I hope I'm getting the hang of it.  It is a pretty cool looking knot!  They need to be tightened more and the ends cut and sealed still.  I'm just happy I seem to have made it work.

  • Sunset!

Packing is Happening

December 7th

Here are some happy things from today:

  • Morning sky.

  • Last month I made a commitment to write a little every day.  Keziah had given me a book, You are a Muffin, which is basically a story prompt that is partially led by the roll of the dice.  I ended up writing over 9000 words to a story that was based around a Muffin.  Go figure… It has a beginning, middle, and end.  It is a bit disjointed, especially when I ended up switching from first person to third person.  Because we are moving, I was going to leave it alone until that was done.  It keeps creeping into my mind.  The other day I realized that I could split it and have it go back and forth between at least two of the characters' first person views.  This morning I wrote down some notes on the characters to give them more personality and a bit of a background.  I'm happy that I haven't just let the story drop yet.
  • Before packing up boxes I tried to use the Tangle Quandary to draw a tree.  I like how it came out, but the Quandary design mostly turned into a bunch of seed shapes.

  • Many boxes were completed, taped up, and put into the storage container.  I think seven or eight.  A couple of those were basically ready to go and just needed tape.  Emptying closets, shelves, and drawers has not made my room feel empty yet.  I'm happy progress was made.  I definitely ran out of energy sooner than I expected.

Cat and Bird

December 6th

Here are some happy things from this cold Saturday:

  • When I went next door for breakfast this morning Zed complimented my hair.  I had just washed it, combed it, and then shook it out.  When he complimented it, I was surprised so I looked at myself on the phone.  In my opinion, it looked funny.  Looking at the picture now, it isn't too bad.

  • Yesterday, I got very little sleep.  I didn't sleep as long as I would have liked this morning.  Instead, I took frequent rests between packing and sorting.  I have a ways to go, but progress was made, yay!

  • Sunset behind the Christmas trees being sold:
  • Our cat, Nanni, watching the bird, Margo.  Margo watching Nanni.  Margo will be one of the pets joining the family when we move.  We will be moving in together with another family into a larger home.

  • Moon!
It isn't really blue.
