Friend Friday

Fridays have become busy lately.  Here are some happy things from today:

  • This morning I visited my friend Stephanie.  The goal was to talk over the floor loom she has to see if there are missing parts or anything that needs to happen before we start to warp it.  I think we achieved that goal.

  • After lunch, we went and picked up our friend Amy.  From there we drove to our first short hiking location, Federal Hill Fire Tower in Milford, NH.  This is my tenth out of the fifteen NH fire towers that are able to be climbed by the public.  The fifteen are all still in operation (or at least able to be used).  Over the years, there have been over 90 fire towers spread across the state.

Soot Sprite Graffiti.

  • Our last hiking location was Monson Center.  This is a town that was founded and deserted in the 1700's.  There is one remaining building.  Scattered throughout the trails are foundation holes with information about the former residents.  For more information check this website out.

Mountain Laurel.

The house was not open.  I was able to get these pictures through the windows.  It felt weird.

  • It was a wonderful day out spent with some great friends.  I was tired though and went home for dinner.  Bel made chicken Alfredo and we were all together to sit down as a family.  Keziah mentioned that my former protégé was going to be at Craft Night and was asking about me.  So after dinner I hauled my tired self there.  It was lovely to see people, but now I really must get some rest.

Listened to: Appalachian Trail Myths The Ugala and Pamola, by Tim Hewitt.  This book is two short stories that I started and completed today.

Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!

  1. Monson Center is an interesting place, we've been a couple of times with the pup. Abandoned towns have always held a bit of a morbid fascination for me. Old Hill Village is another such place we've explored a couple of times.
