Halloween

 October 31st

Happy Halloween!  Here are some happy things from today:

  • The morning chore that I didn't want to skip again, is done. The bathroom sink has been draining slowly and thus, bugging me. I took it apart, cleaned it out, and now the water is going down fast!
  • Many of the things I was going to do today got sidetracked because Zed was home part of the day too.  It was good, though.  He had a list of things to do and I was able to help with some of them.  One of those things was to look at the storage units.  We are hoping to consolidate them into one.  I'm happy to say that only a little of it is mine at this point.  That said, I have no shortage of stuff to get rid of.
  • For the last day of October I did the last tangle from the Inktober Tangles 2025 list.  There is another list here, but it is hard to read.  Anyhow, this ends My Art for October things.  It has been fun and I hope to continue to do things art-ish.  With the last tangle added I have taken a picture of the entire piece of paper and created a key.  If anyone is interested in which Tangle is which, look at the list from one of the above links and the number on the picture should coincide with the day and type of Tangle.  I did searches on YouTube to learn more about each one when I did them.  There is a lot out there!
I wasn't happy with this 👆, so I tried again👇.

  • For the first time in a while I made it to Craft Night.  It was good to hang out with people for a little while.
  • In other news, November used to be National Novel Writers Month.  I'm not sure if it still is or not because the group that used to promote it is gone.  Anyhow, I'm going to try to write a little every day for November.  If I write, I'll post my word count for the day on my blog.  I'm not trying to write a novel.  I'm hoping to have fun using the book Keziah got me, You Are a Muffin, by Exeunt Press.
  • Here are some other pictures from today:

Gideon on the way to trick or treat.
He doesn't have everything on, but he is supposed to be a podcaster.

Hair!

 October 30th

Here are some happy Thursday things:

  • During work I needed to wear my hardhat for a little while.  For the first time since April, when I had my hair cut, hair was in my eyes.  Well, not IN my eyes, but threatening by tickling my eyelashes.  This means it is time to make choices on how, or if, to cut it again.  After going the majority of my sixty years with long hair, this is new –and a little bit exciting– territory for me.
Proof of life.
The pinkish color is faded.
My hair almost covers my ears again!

  • On this misty afternoon I stepped outside and took some pictures.

  • After work, a short rest, and food I started My Art for October.  I decided to catch up with the Zentangles.  Below are the four I did today.  Tomorrow I plan to do the last one in the Zentangle Inktober 2025 Challenge and then make a key.
Different versions of the same Tangle.

Tiredness

Happy Wednesday!  Here are some happy things from today:

  • It is the part of the week in which I am happy that I made it through work.  I was tired and I was assigned to one of the more physically active tasks.  It wasn't as busy as it could have been and I'm grateful for that.
  • Two Zentangles for My Art for October today.  There were some lines that ended up where I didn't plan them.  I definitely want to make sure I have had some sleep before I finish it.  🤣

Yesterday, after I wrote my blog, I finished DC reading You Are a Muffin, by Exeunt Press. It is a short book with story writing prompts.

Starry Sky

 October 28th

Happy Tuesday things:

  • Leaving for work there were stars in the sky.  I moved a little while taking a picture but Orion and Jupiter were obvious to me.  Some research and Jupiter should be right under the constellation Gemini.  If I keep doing this, maybe I will learn more constellations and then not have to research as much.  😊

  • For My Art for October I worked on one Zentangle, fell asleep, and then did another.  When these 31 Tangles are done, I have ideas...
Thumb for scale.
As my space decreases, so do the sizes of the Tangles.

Yesterday, after I wrote my blog, I started reading You Are a Muffin, by Exeunt Press.  I hope to finish it after I post this today.

Sunrise

 October 27th

A little before sunrise.

Happy Monday things:

  • Monday mornings Keziah and I try to get together.  Today she was hungry so we went out for breakfast.  For me, it was my second breakfast.  It was good food and conversation.
  • Monday is also the day I tend to walk with my friend Amy.  It has been a few weeks.  We walked about three miles.  Before I left for the walk, I did something to my knee so I used my trekking poles.  My knee didn't give me much trouble during the walk, but when I got back into the car, ouch!  I'm happy it doesn't seem to hurt while walking and that I was able to get out and walk with a friend.

  • My Art for October consisted of three Zentangles.  I'm a little behind.  When I started doing the Zentangle challenge I didn't think I would finish them.  I also have chosen different types of “art” during the month.  Now, I want to finish the 31 Zentangles for October.  I might not finish them before November, but I'm closer now.

I put my thumb in the picture for some scale.

Trees

October 26th

This weekend seemed to go by quickly!  Here are some happy things from today:

  • When we move to the new house (given that everything works out), we will be sharing it with another family.  Part of the reason for the move is for the families to help each other out. Anyhow, some of the adults went for breakfast this morning to talk over some potential concerns.  It went well.  Breakfast was tasty as well.
  • There was archery practice this afternoon, the last one at Stephanie's for the season.  I'm not sure if it was the cold or something else, but we didn't shoot well.  It was still mostly fun.  After, Stephanie and I talked about a potential backpacking trip we are planning for the spring.

  • My Art for October is two Zentangles.

Self-care

October 25th

 Happy Saturday things!

A little before sunrise.

  • It was a day of rest/self-care for me, mostly.  I sorted through a few things in my room and did laundry.  My personal grocery shopping for the week is done. I've been thinking about packing and how I want to arrange things and what I should get rid of when we move.  I went through my closet and pulled out one shirt to donate.  Small steps!
  • In the afternoon I went for a two mile walk.  It was a cool day, perfect for walking.

  • More Zentangle was accomplished this morning for My Art for October.  By doing it this morning, I didn't fall asleep like last night!

Rainbow Time!

 October 24th

Happy Friday things:

  • Walking out of the apartment before the beginning of dawn, the Big Dipper greeted me in the eastern-ish sky.  The outside light was left on at the house, but I took a picture anyway.  I'm happy with the results.  The Big Dipper is obvious to anyone that has seen it before, and the light on shows the autumn browns and other colors on the trees.

  • We went to see the house that Zed and Keziah are buying.  It feels weird to describe it or share pictures since it is still full of the current owners and their lives.  However, the house is big, has a pool, and less property, but still has land with it.
Some of the property.

A plant, that might be some type of Geranium that was growing as a ground cover in parts of the yard.

  • It was just starting to clear from a brief rain shower when I left to pick Gideon up from school.  A rainbow appeared!  Then another!  It was very pretty.

  • Concord had the annual Halloween Howl event.  Merchants stay open and hand out Halloween treats.  I didn't get a picture of Gideon, but Keziah was a cat.

  • After I played Cribbage with a friend.  We had a lot of fun.  Somehow I managed to win both games.

  • My Art for October is another Zentangle.  Unfortunately I kept falling asleep and it is a little wiggly.  I could have done more shading, but I prioritized doing some of this and then sleeping.

Other pictures from today:

Tracks

December 8th Happy Monday things: One of the nice things about snow is seeing footprints (picture follows).  After talking with Bel and Cor...
