Fuel

Happy Monday things:

  • Mondays are the days that I have an alarm go off to check the fuel levels.  The last few weeks I have not been at the house (or busy) and forgot to check the gauges.  Yesterday, Zed had to put diesel into the oil tank so we could have hot water and a little bit of heat.  Today the propane ran out so our alternate heat source in the house, the propane fireplace, was not working.  I’m very grateful to Zed for getting the diesel and that today just happened to be the regularly scheduled time for the propane delivery.  Every year this happens, that is why I have an alarm go off.  I’ll work harder at doing this chore in the future.  I'm glad it all is working out, and that the part of the house I am in uses space heaters.
  • There are still unanswered scheduling questions that I need to work out with Bel and Keziah to get ready to hike the AT.  There are so many details.  For starters, I can’t know how much hiking we can do on the first day unless I know when we will arrive in Georgia.  It might be that we get there early in the morning and can travel more than 8.8 miles to the beginning of the trail.  It might be that we get there late enough that we start the following day.  So, I made a list of different places to camp in the first 20-ish miles before there would be a potential town stop.  Planning food will be important.  If that was flat ground, we could do it in a day.  It isn’t, so maybe three days?  I’m just really happy that there is The A.T. Guide to help with this.  One of the things that Bill Bryson writes about in A Walk in the Woods, is the lack of good maps. That book was published in 1997. According to the internet, The A.T. Guide, was first published in 2010.
  • The earrings that I have been working on are mostly done.  I made some changes along the way, but now they just need the hook part attached so they can be earrings.  Then they get sorted to go into the correct gift bag.

Currently listening to: A Walk in the Woods, by Bill Bryson.

Currently reading: The A.T. Guide, by David “Awol” Miller & AntiGravityGear.

Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!
