Happy Autumn!

 September 22nd

The sun had to work this morning to break through the fog.

Here are some happy things from this lovely first day of autumn:

  • Mondays are generally the days that Keziah and I get together to do something for a little while.  Today that was emptying out the truck and van of all the quilting things we picked up last night.  We were able to put some things right on the shelves at DIY Craft & Thrift and many other boxes could have gone out if there was space.  Keziah will be sorting through that this week.  Bel and other friends helped so this was a pretty easy task, and one I am happy is done.

  • We didn't stay at the store long before going to the studio.  I worked on my Viking apron dress.  It is now hemmed and the part that will be at the top to help hold the straps is started.  I'm tired today, so I didn't have the brain power to do much more with that.  Progress is always good though.
  • It is considered best practice to sew up cut edges of fabric before putting it in the washing machine.  So, in an attempt to reduce fray, I also sewed the edges on a bunch of the woolen fabrics I picked up a few weeks ago.   I'll wash them when the weather and my time cooperate. I feel pretty smart for choosing to use older thread to perform this task.  I chose thread spools that were mostly empty and finished them up.  We have quite a lot of old thread.
This is one of at least three containers with thread.  Most of these used to belong to my mom before she passed away over twenty years ago.

It looks like I finished off about seven spools that were mostly empty, like the one on the right.

A bucket of wool!

Started listening to: The Pumpkin Spice Café, by Laurie Gilmore.

Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!
