Tough Choices

We all got good sleep last night.  Not enough, but good.  There seemed to be no obvious damage from the storm last night near us.  We were safe in the hotel room.

There was a lot of discussion about plans going forward.  Ideas were tossed around.  Then we tabled that for getting out of the hotel and breakfast.

Breakfast was really good.  The decision made during breakfast was to check on the loose dogs we found from yesterday, and then, probably, go home.

Breakfast

Concerning the dogs; we were concerned about them and called back the deputy from yesterday.  They couldn't say a lot, but we are sure that the matter is well in hand.

Concerning going home; Bel is having more equipment problems.  Rather than wait two days to leave, we chose to spend some time in town and leave today.  It was my suggestion, and it made sense when I suggested it.  As I write this, it doesn't matter that it made sense.  I'm sad that we weren't able to get even a few more miles behind us.  In a few weeks, we plan to be back to pick up where we left off, and walk to Mount Katahdin.  Or until the money runs out, whichever comes first.

The town of Dahlonega is nice.  There are some interesting little shops.

A glass blowing store.

There was a country store, tea shops and other cute little places in the center of town.

At some point in the afternoon we started the long drive home.  As I write this we are somewhere in Virginia.  The moon was orange when it rose on the horizon.  Clouds have blocked out parts of the moon in interesting ways as we have traveled along.

Some pictures of today's drive:

My shoes are breaking!  I'm glad I have more at home.

Sunset!!

Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!
