Saturday, March 15th
Bel and I stayed in the shelter with at least six other people on two floors. It was mostly full. Neither of us slept well. It is weird how this hike is not making me as sleepy-tired as I expected. I'm more physically-tired. Even when I get to sleep, I don't stay asleep. Other people got up and out before we did, but we were ready to go much sooner than usual. We sat and talked with people before we left.

It was a short hike today. We only hiked for about 45 minutes before meeting Corvidae. We thought about slack packing (leaving our packs with Corvidae) another four miles to get to the next parking area, but decided against it.
Because of the impending storm, we were headed to town for the night. Along the way, we stopped for some loose dogs. Bel talked with animal control/deputy sheriff and we were told to leave the dogs and they would get there to check on them when they could. It was sad, but we did what they said. Hopefully the dogs will be okay in the storm.
Zed was kind enough to find a place for us to stay in town. The stories of the incoming storm included things like softball sized hail and tornadoes. Hopefully being at an Inn will at least mean closer to help if something bad happens.
All that said, the storm keeps lessening in intensity, at least where we are. It looks pretty bad north of here.
We took some time and went to an Irish pub for a late lunch, got a few supplies, and did laundry. The woman who ran the laundromat was very nice and we all shared stories for two hours. We are all hoping to get some good sleep tonight.

Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!
