Zero Day

 March 12, 2025--Wednesday

We slept in late.  Okay, I didn't sleep late, but the others did.  After breakfast and getting mostly packed up we made the hard decision to go to town.  Bel is having problems with the pack.  Bel is around 6’7” tall and the pack is apparently not built for that and with our current load.  They have had the pack for about ten years and it has served them well.  It is causing them some pain, and if a new pack will fix that, we need to fix that.

Our empty campsite.

Driving to Dahlonega ⬇️

The drive to Dahlonega, GA from somewhere near Three Forks was almost an hour.  It was mostly down a very winding dirt road.  The outfitter, Woodlands Edge, didn't have a huge selection of backpacks.  The ones they had were nice.  Bel found a pack that should work for them.  The store packed a lot into it and the person working there was very nice and helpful.

We spent some time getting food, some supplies, and some more food.  I'm exhausted.  Perhaps a zero day was a good thing.

We drove back up the winding, bumpy, dirt road to a different campsite just a little after Three Forks.  The creek we have been camping near is called Chester Creek.  The app I'm using when I have no signal is Gaia GPS.  Bel got an app called Far Out that they really like.  I think both have something to offer.  I'm glad I remembered to make my Google file available offline.  That is what I'm using to write.  When I have internet, I copy it to Blogger and add the photos.  When I run out of battery, I'll resort to paper.

Along the bumpy road...

Bel and Corvidae made a small fire at the campsite before we headed off to get some sleep. The moon was rising and stars were shining.  I hope I sleep better tonight.

***We are tracking the fact that a major storm is coming this way and plan to be off trail for it.***

Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!
