April 24--Thursday
It rained hard last night which made it hard for me to sleep. The hardest of the drops penetrated the tent walls. It was peaceful, but not enough to allow me to sleep. We hiked 6.9 more miles along the AT. The battery on my FitBit died so I don't know how many steps it would have registered. We are camping tonight at Betty Creek. We have almost 1000 feet in elevation tomorrow to start off the day. I'm hoping to sleep well tonight.
It was mostly a foggy and overcast day. There were occasional places where we caught some nice views.
I continue to find it amazing how different the trail is in some places and still the same in others as we pass through different biomes.
There has been some soul searching on my part as to why I'm out here. I have no answers, but I'm not ready to go home yet, unless I'm needed. That is one thing that will remain a constant, if my kids (or grandson) need me, I'll try to be there.

It was quite lovely seeing places where the sun was peeking through the clouds. |

There appear to be some lakes in the distance. |
