May 9th. Friday
There have been a lot of stops and goes. I've finally made it back to go. After a slight meltdown this morning I rallied and finished getting ready to go. This morning I reflected on how I've never really done anything like this before by myself. So, yes, this is kind of scary for me. And so I am embarking on hiking some sections of the Appalachian Trail. When I started this I had hopes of hiking the entire length, almost 2200 miles. For various reasons that is not to be. As it is, if I am unable to keep my minor skin condition under control this time, I'll have to cut this trip short too.
I took my time getting ready today. I was almost ready to go when I realized I could use just a few more clothes and stuck some things I was hanging into the dryer. As of this writing I only know of one thing that I think I forgot, an empty Talenti container. I planned on using that to cold soak my food. This oversight was solved by a trip to a grocery store in New York. 😋
I got hugs from the family and took some selfies with them. Well, everyone but Gideon. I didn't think to get a picture with him before he rushed off to school.
