May 3rd
There was a lovely sunrise outside my window this morning. I paid heed to this warning, and went back to bed. Here are some other happy things from today:
- Bel and I went to get a free shed they found online. While dismantling it so it would fit into the van, I noticed a frog. I wish I had taken a picture. My Google search for NH frogs led me to gray treefrogs. The poor thing didn't want to let go of the shed. Bel was able to move it though and placed it by a nearby tree.
- Today many of my SCA friends were at the Crown Tournament event in New York. This is when people compete to be the next set of royalty. The SCA is sixty years old and has always used the rattan style fighting of combat for this purpose. Today, for the first time, the competition was fought using rapier weapons instead. There were meetings and a bunch of controversy leading up to our getting approval for this temporary change. Parts of the event were livestreamed and I was able to see some of it. I'm hopeful that this will become a more normalized way for the next set of royals to win. Perhaps alternating between Rattan and Rapier? We have two sets of royals a year, it seems that would be easy to do.
- At the store I spent some time untangling yarn. I find this a peaceful thing to do. The below picture was taken when I had already sorted through a bunch of the yarn. There is more to do on another day!

Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!
