July 5th
There must be something wrong with me. I volunteered for a short work shift tomorrow. It is just under three hours, but they offered an extra $5 an hour to come in. So I'll be potentially working about 53 hours next week. I used to put in 60+ hours a week at a previous job. I try not to do that to myself anymore. Anyhow, here are my happy things from today:
- In order to be prepared for my two weeks with overtime, I'm trying to get up early so I can get to sleep early. This meant I was outside before seven this morning pulling up everything I could in the triangle part of the driveway. I almost reached the goal I set for myself before it got too hot. It isn't a small area and I have really let it go the last two years or so. I worked at least three hours and two wheelbarrows full of weeds. I'm not sure if I'll be able to do more with it for a while, but I've made a start!

My stopping point for today. |
- After lunch I went to Keziah’s store, DIY Craft & Thrift. The store has been closed this week while they do a reset. I helped put away and sort patterns, crochet cotton, and some fabric. As ‘pay’ I brought home three small things. A book about sewing machine accessories, a pattern for making hats, and a pattern to make a little wallet that can hang on a lanyard. Last January when I stayed at a hotel for the Birka SCA event a friend gave me a holder for the room key (see picture). I'd like to try to make something similar that isn't plastic.

These still need more work. |

I just need to make some time to craft! |

Currently listening to: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain.
Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!
