April 12th
Since the internet is spotty, posts will be too. I'll still attempt to keep them organized by day.
Today's Hike is brought to you by the letter h.
We said goodbye to Stephanie this morning. Bel and I are on our own with a bunch of other weird AT hikers. 😁 Here are some happy things and more pictures:
- We didn't get many miles in today, but that was part of my plan. The next eight-ish miles includes the highest mountain on the AT in Georgia. It also is an area with many bear sightings so hard-sided bear-canister use is mandatory if you camp in that area. Some of our food is in a bag we hang. Also, it will be colder the higher up we go. According to the internet, it dipped to 26° last night. Stephanie had a thermometer and the inside of her tent was 34°. She is headed back home, by car. Bel and I hope to get most of the way on foot. Then get a ride home from Mount Katahdin!
- We saw some pretty flowers along the trail.
- And some magnificent views.
There were problems with the internet so the pictures are a little scrambled. Mostly they are in reverse order.
