April 19th. Saturday
It was a day of questioning our life choices. We let the morning mostly go by. While packing up we broke a tent pole. We hiked 7.4 trail miles to the next shelter. I had a hard time, and so did Bel. I'm very thankful that there was room in the shelter for us. I'm fairly certain we could tape up the pole somehow, but we don't have to if we stay in the shelter. As soon as we can we will start the search for another tent or two.
We saw another bear. It ran quickly across the trail a distance in front of us and was gone. This one appeared black and larger than the last one. It went by fast enough I had no time for pictures.
