More LOPs from Harpers Ferry

 May 15th

Thankfully, it isn't every day that I'm near a flood zone.  Since the weather seemed better today I decided to go back to Harpers Ferry.  There were still things I wanted to do and see there.

There is a trail that runs from the parking lot to what they call Lower Town.  I decided to hike the trail instead of taking the bus.  There are a few trails that led off of the main one.  Some of these had information signs.  Some had informatrrion signs that were partially flooded.  I skipped those.

Waterfall.

Turtles.

There is a fish underwater there.

Deer.

Just after the train bridge there is a sign.

Turtle!

My finger is pointing to approximately where I walked under that bridge yesterday.  It was grassy then.

Yesterday I shared pictures of a sign and where a tree went missing.
This is that same place, only farther away.

Zooming in.

The water level is about 20 feet.
Yesterday it was around 17 feet.
I'm not sure how high it got at its peak.

Captain Lewis (of Lewis & Clark) purchased supplies in Harpers Ferry for his famous exploration.

This is the place on the AT I fell yesterday.
I didn't fall today.

Crossing the Shenandoah River.

Under the highway.

Dead wood, probably from a previous flooding.

Heading back to town.

There is a section dealing with architecture and archeology.

Interesting architecture.

A sparrow really wanted my attention.

Yesterday I was able to walk to those stairs early in the day, but not later.  It is much more flooded in this picture.

Lens claims this is a mock strawberry.

Through the screen, outside my tent.
I'm at a hostel tonight.

Continued listening to: Hey, Ranger! By Jim Burnett.

Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!
