August 3rd
Here are my happy things from today:
- Last night I ended up staying up later than I thought I would. Just as I was going to turn in, someone walked back into camp and we had a nice conversation. Sometimes conversations in the middle of the night are the best.
- This afternoon I made it to one class. It was interesting in an historical way. It had to do with medieval surgery.
- After a break, I went to the archery range. I told myself I would walk all the way, but when a friend offered a ride, I took it. The range is almost a mile from camp. I shot in one of the populous shoots that score points toward winning the war. I did fairly well. There are four different types of populous shoots: castle window, advancing man, friend/foe, and the clout. The one I did today was the castle window one.

Two points for the monster and one for the black window. This was worth four points.
Six points. |
I think this is seven points. |
Seven points. There was one target that I didn't take a picture of that only scored two points. So that totals 26 points. |
- After that I rested until it was time for the Archery Champions practice. It was fun to try and hit these targets and to just be involved. I didn't make the team. Stephanie and another person in our camp did though. Here are some pictures of those:
Just hit that red plate 35 yards away. |
Zero points for me. |
I got the plate once, but this target was only 15 yards away. |
Shoot the red plates to score, the yellow plate is a negative score. |
I got one in! |
- Keziah, Stephanie, and I ate at the food court tonight. The food court area has some pop-up restaurants and lots of picnic tables. It is also a major travel path so we got to say hi to people we know as they pass by.
- At 9:00 PM there was a Commedia del Arte show with i Sebastiani performing. This is one of their last Pennsic performances. It was a great show. I was able to visit with some of the actors I know and other people I only tend to see at Pennsic after.

Continued listening to: When Women Were Warriors, by Catherine M. Wilson.
Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!
