Falling Leaves

September 6th

Some happy things from today:

• There was an SCA event (Falling Leaves) in northern Massachusetts, not too far away.  I was able to meet with friends and carpool part of the way.  It was nice to be sharing the ride with friends.  I'm thankful that I didn't have to drive the whole way by myself.
• I was actually early to meet up with everyone and stopped for a short walk on the way.  It was at a small park by a pond.  It was pretty.  It was also kind of weird to be walking by myself with Viking garb on.  I really should try to get more pictures of me wearing some of my medieval outfits.  That didn't happen today.

• As I looked around at the faces at the SCA event, I was surprised how many I recognized.  I've been doing this hobby for about 40 years, so I should probably not be surprised.  As an introvert, recognizing doesn't mean I know them well, but it was interesting to realize.  We got to the event just before Keziah's apprentice got an award.  It was nice to see, she was very pleased with her scroll.

• Often at events I find a place to sit and stay there.  My friend, Anastasia, and I were able to walk around with the purpose of getting to say hello to people we know.  It was great to be able to visit with all the friends we came across.  One friend that also tablet weaves got herself a tattoo to help her remember how to warp the cards.  What a great use of a tattoo, directions.

• There was also a court of the Forester's Guild.  This is a guild that I have been on the periphery of for a while and I'm trying to decide how involved I want to be.  During the court people were honored within the guild for the tasks they have learned.

• We left the event as a storm was starting and we were back to Anastasia's as it ended.  It was a good day.
